Abstract
The study of Ambilobeia n. gen , n sp. (inlraorder Penaeidea de llaan, 1849, fami- ly Penaeidae Rafinesque, 1815) increases the knowledge about the rich and important faunal assem- blage of decapod crustaceans of the Lower Triassic (Olenekian) of the Ambilobe region (NW Madagascar), already widely analysed by Garassino and Teruz/.i (1995), The study specimen, recently collected during a surveying, was discovered in a new outcrop located near the village of Bobasatrana. Some morphological features, such as the very elongate rostrum, lacking supra- and subrostral teeth, the presence of one strong tooth located at the base of rostrum, and pereiopods I- III with short and thin chelae, distinguish this new genus from lfasya Garassino and Teruzzi, 1995.
